"With our decision today, we show that Syria has isolated itself from the international community. Through its false statements, its support for terrorism, its interference in the affairs of its neighbors and its destabilizing behavior in the Middle East. Now the Syrian government needs to make a strategic decision to fundamentally change its behavior,” said Ms. Rice. (VOA News)

I like your post.

I wish most Americans would educate themselves and realize nations and peoples prone to war and strife, such as Syria, will almost always have unrest, and our stepping in will only cause them to channel this propensity towards ourselves. Some wars must happen to protect persecuted peoples, but when it comes to the Middle East, our country should focus on forging peace, not animosity. There are dozens of countries with leaders/ dictators that need to be toppled, but we cannot fight every war. We should lead by example, and intervene by helping the people living under these regimes, but we shouldn't intervene in every problem, especially when we are not asked and are not welcomed.

We chose not to intervene is genocides in Africa, yet recently we seem to try to step in all over the Middle East. When we don't choose to intervene when confronted by the most dire circumstances of genocide and widespread famine when people are pleading for our help, but instead decide to intervene where we aren't welcome, it bolsters the poor opinion most of the world has of our nation.Peace.
